Chadi Alid (General Manager Dizlee, Zain Group)

“When we talk about DCB, the first reaction is, usually, to focus on the obvious verticals, gaming and video streaming, because these are the services that are well known for their profitability. But at Zain we also consider our role in society to bridge the gap, especially in regions where customers don’t have easy access to traditional financial services or education”.

Valentino Serino (Head of Partnerships, Busuu)

“Our solution is designed to cater to a diverse audience. From a product standpoint, our primary objective is to ensure that language learning remains a straightforward and easily accessible solution while we’re boosting users’ motivation along the way”.

Frederico Rosato (Sales Director for Telcos & Ticketing, Digital Virgo)

“EdTech is a great vertical to diversify revenue streams. It’s true that gaming is really the king. The same as VoD. But, if we can enlarge the offering, we can engage more people. We have a challenge in front of us, that is changing how DCB is perceived, that sometimes can be on a wrong way regarding its benefits. This presents us lots of opportunities”.

Valentino Serino (Head of Partnerships, Busuu)

“In the pre-and post-COVID era, the perception of education has undergone a paradigm shift. Traditional approaches have given way to the digital realm, which, from a commercial perspective, presents a promising frontier. The demand for online education has caught the attention of telecommunications companies, who recognize its potential for yielding favorable commercial outcomes. This shift is not confined to emerging markets alone but extends its reach into more mature markets”.

Chadi Alid (General Manager Dizlee, Zain Group)

“Taking the example of Busuu in Iraq, we see that it has become one of our best performing services. When we launched the service in the country, we were not expecting it to be as successful. Obviously, gaming is very successful in the region. Video streaming is very successful too. But education… education is huge. We are aware that there is a need. And this content is targeting specifically this need. There is a customer base there. We have all the ingredients to succeed. Iraqis are eager and thirsty to learn. They are creative and innovative and they want to do things in a different way”.

Frederico Rosato (Sales Director for Telcos & Ticketing, Digital Virgo)

“Launching a service like Busuu in a country like Iraq is very innovative. This innovation is part of Zain’s DNA. Being innovative, experimenting. They are not opposed to any new pilot, new offer on the market. Chadi himself is really listening to the kind of opportunity that we can bring to the table. Busuu was already a very nice experience in other regions, so we brought this, we experimented, and we succeeded there. Iraq, as an example, is one of the top performing countries for us with Busuu”.

Valentino Serino (Head of Partnerships, Busuu)

“Our initiatives in Iraq are the result of a meticulously orchestrated collaboration involving the right combination of elements and partners. There is a language learning solution like Busuu, offering high-quality educational content, a marketing partner in Digital Virgo with an adept understanding of content promotion, and a telecommunications partner that ensures efficient content distribution. Each entity plays a vital role, and our seamless execution leverages our collective expertise to create offerings that precisely align with customer demands. It is worth noting that having a superior product is essential, but effective marketing remains a pivotal factor in ensuring its success”.

Chadi Alid (General Manager Dizlee, Zain Group)

“We are very selective with the partners and services that we work with. The quality of the content is crucial for us. We don’t want any fraudulent transaction to happen. So, it is our duty to be selective when it comes to the whole value chain. And with this specific partnership, it turned out that we are bulletproof across all the value propositions. This brings success and trust”.

Frederico Rosato (Sales Director for Telcos & Ticketing, Digital Virgo)

“Because of the synergy and the experience of having implemented the service in many countries, the time to market can be very fast. Through our single API we can connect Busuu all over the world easily. Besides this, it’s more the marketing aspect of it which can take more time. Who’s going to promote it, the way to promote it… this is key in order to make it profitable for everybody. We want everybody to be happy, because in the end, we will also be happy”.
