Africa teams align on shared priorities
The workshop opened with a review of Digital Virgo’s priorities for Africa and the role of local teams in translating the Group’s strategy into solutions adapted to each market.
A central topic was the acceleration of bundles, with discussions covering pricing, content, user experience, operator involvement and commercial activation across both Francophone and Anglophone Africa. Teams examined the factors behind successful offers and considered how proven approaches could be adapted and replicated across countries.
Acquisition and conversion were also high on the agenda. Participants reviewed the performance and potential of several channels, paying particular attention to recruitment quality, conversion performance and the specific constraints of each market.
Stronger products and more relevant customer experiences
Several sessions focused on product quality, content relevance and localisation. Teams discussed how to strengthen services across music, gaming, TV and video on demand by improving the user experience, service quality, content positioning and licensing.
The TV session explored how offers could remain distinctive for each operator while relying on a consistent operating model and closer coordination between central and local teams.
Payments, loyalty and new engagement models
The workshop also examined the evolution of mobile money and payment services in Africa. Lessons from existing deployments informed broader discussions about customer journeys, customer care, financial performance and the positioning of payment platforms with telecom operators.
Sessions dedicated to merchants and premium merchants explored how stronger value propositions, onboarding processes and commercial activation could support partnerships with leading digital brands and content providers.
Gamification and loyalty also featured prominently through solutions including Bravigo and Winfinity.
Teams also shared examples of phygital activation, combining digital acquisition with point-of-sale visibility and operator retail networks. Together with discussions on DV Live, interactive television and digital gamification, these sessions reflected the growing importance of connecting content, technology and field execution.
Building the foundations for scalable execution
Alongside growth opportunities, the agenda addressed the foundations required to deliver them consistently. Technical readiness, platform performance and collaboration between central and local teams were discussed as essential conditions for successful launches.
Participants also compared operating models in Nigeria, Burkina Faso and Kenya to identify governance principles and practices that could be adapted across other African markets.
The final sessions looked at the relationship between payments, merchants and advertising, and how these complementary capabilities could create additional value for telecom operators, partners and end users.
Twenty years of presence and impact in Africa
The Africa Workshop took place during a milestone week for Digital Virgo. Our African journey began in Morocco in 2006 and progressively expanded across the continent through long-term relationships with telecom operators, media groups, content partners and local ecosystems.
The anniversary celebration in Casablanca brought this history to life by recognising the people, partnerships and shared achievements behind two decades of development. It was also an opportunity to thank the teams and partners who have contributed to Digital Virgo’s growth.
Twenty years after the first chapter began in Morocco, Digital Virgo continues to build on this experience with the same commitment to local relevance, operational excellence and close collaboration with its partners.
The priorities discussed during the workshop provide a clear direction for the next chapter: stronger offers, more scalable models and digital experiences designed around the needs of operators and users across Africa.
