Fuze Forge continues its expansion in LATAM

Digital Virgo’s gaming platform, Fuze Forge, lands for the first time in Peru with our partner Claro. The service, which brings together +5000 PC games, mobile games, news, videos and more, marks the Group’s first launch in the country.

The expansion of Fuze Forge in LATAM proves the great results the service has had in other regions, in the context of an ever-growing gaming market where users are increasingly interested in accessing video games in a simple, safe and fast way. One of the keys to this success is the integration of the Carrier Billing payment method, which allows customers to pay via their monthly phone bill, avoiding sharing bank details or filling out lengthy forms.

As in many countries in the LATAM region, this alternative payment method is adapted to the local Peruvian reality, where more than 88% of households have a smartphone (1), while only 13% of adults own a credit card (2).

The regional agreement with América Móvil continues to develop

The landing of Fuze Forge in Peru is part of the agreement signed by Digital Virgo and América Móvil in mid-2022.

In addition to the new launch in Peru, Fuze Forge is already available in Mexico and the Dominican Republic, with many more countries to come in the coming months.

The undeniable success of the rollout of Fuze Forge in Mexico, Dominican Republic, and now, Peru, demonstrates that users today demand premium gaming content. We are delighted that América Móvil has relied on our expertise in the field to enrich its content catalogue and has been open to include Carrier Billing as a payment method, which has proven to be more secure and achieve higher conversion rates than traditional ones. We are delighted to continue growing together with our partner“, explains Edgar Lomeli, Country Manager for Mexico at Digital Virgo.

Gaming in Peru and LATAM, a big entertainment trend

The video game industry has grown in LATAM to an unprecedented level in the last decade. Faster internet connections, greater accessibility to smartphones and a wider range of game genres have increased the population’s interest in this type of entertainment.

In Peru alone, total revenues in the gaming segment reached $201.2 million in 2022, with an expected annual growth between 2022 and 2026 of 10.13%. Alongside these impressive figures, the number of downloads is reached 575.5 million last year, and paid gaming apps accounted for $4.34 million.
In the country, more than 10 million people used mobile games in 2021 (3). This is the perfect context to launch gaming platforms that offer premium and exclusive content to users, who are willing to pay for high-quality products that are tailored to their needs and interests.

For this type of digital payments, Carrier Billing has positioned itself as one of the payment methods best adapted to the digital ecosystem. A great opportunity for Telcos to become key players in the Gaming market, offering a frictionless billing option that fits the new realities of customers.
