Accompanying Garena in its expansion in Africa & Middle East, starting with Morocco.

Garena is partnering with Digital Virgo to expand its self-developed mobile battle royale title, Free Fire, among inwi & Maroc Telecom subscribers in Morocco. These two Telcos’ connections are just the beginning of a global partnership that Digital Virgo teams will roll out with other local Telcos in Middle East and Africa regions.
Connecting Garena to Carriers inwi and Maroc Telecom

The leading global games developer and publisher, Garena, established a partnership with Digital Virgo for its knowledge of the African market, its local presence, its experience in launching and adapting gaming services internationally, alongside providing the Carrier Billing payment solution.

With the implementation of this locally adapted payment method, we propose a great opportunity for Garena to expand its audience among both inwi and Maroc Telecom subscribers, providing an easy and secure way to pay for the service via their mobile phone bill. Apart from its convenience, Carrier Billing is a payment method that is perfectly adapted to the reality of the African region, where most of the population remain unbanked while the vast majority owns a smartphone.

These two Telcos’ connections are just the beginning of a global partnership that Digital Virgo teams will roll out with other local Telcos in Africa and Middle East regions.

Mobile Payment at the center of a successful internationalization strategy: well adapted payment method, global financial optimization and traffic-generating marketing campaigns

Digital Virgo, with its local teams, brings all its expertise in the internationalization of services in Africa. More than the Carrier Billing integration, we consider all specificities of this payment method in the area as well as all the growth levers to deploy an efficient internationalization strategy.

Through our local presence, we facilitate the management of international financial flows and in particular the control of local taxes, foreign exchange, and remittances.  This expertise enables rapid payment settlement and a single point of contact.

Apart from managing the complete transaction flow, we combine mobile payment with a user acquisition strategy that includes digital marketing campaigns to help acquire new users, drive more traffic to the service and therefore maximize revenue.

We aim to offer the best Free Fire experience for our users in Africa. We are happy to be partnering with Digital Virgo, who will bring its experience, knowledge, and network to help us meet the needs of our gaming community across the region” said Hans Kurniadi Saleh, Head of Garena MENA.

“We are pleased to see our partnership with Garena come to fruition with this deployment with our great partners inwi and Maroc Telecom in Africa. We are very excited to continue to support Garena in its international expansion in Africa and Middle East and look forward to announcing new deployments very soon” Achraf Ammour, Sales Director for the African Market at Digital Virgo.
